FINALLY. I got myself off the couch and walked the three blocks from my house to the famed Mitchell’s last night and couldn’t be happier. There is nothing like old-school (it opened it 1953), real, high-quality ice cream. And the line wasn’t too bad (you have to take a number when you get there; it’s usually pretty crazy). I highly recommend the grasshopper pie (mint ice cream with chocolate chips and other goodies) and the ice cream sandwiches ( we went with chunky, soft, perfect chocolate chip cookies from Pacific Cookie Company in Santa Cruz on either side of oreo ice cream). Can you believe they’re my neighbor?
