Smorgasburg is essentially New York’s version of Off the Grid, but with vendors instead of food trucks. It’s a “flea food market” in Brooklyn that takes place every Saturday with a ton of the city’s best food spots, from ramen to porchetta to ice cream to pie shakes (yeah, you read that right – it’s a pie milkshake hybrid). In July, it’s a whole lot hotter than any Off the Grid I’ve ever been to in San Francisco, but the food (and view) makes it worth it. I had never been to Williamsburg before and totally loved it (next post a’comin). I cooled off with a Red Hook lobster roll (chilled Maine lobster stuffed into a toasted buttery roll) and Pecan Patti iced tea (pomegranate and cranberry juice with lemon, white peach, mint, black tea and a squeeze of lime).
