I had to wait to post about the best ribs on the Peninsula until my story about their creator, Harold Willis, was published in the Weekly. And now it’s just in time for a celebratory Memorial Day post anyway!
Willis has been grilling epic ribs in a car wash parking lot in Mountain View since 2000. He has a very cool story (Paly graduate, Vietnam vet, Safeway meat manager, BBQ extraordinaire?) and his ribs are incredible. He only uses dry rub, so they’re unlike most of the sauce-drenched, mess of ribs that I’ve experienced, yet still have a ton of flavor.
