For my birthday this year, my brother gave me one of the best gifts I’ve ever received: a Gilt voucher for a dinner at Morimoto in Napa. I had never heard of the place, but Masaharu Morimoto is a famous iron chef and apparently his Napa outpost is a well-known, amazing (and very expensive!) establishment. Not only did I get one of the best meals of my life essentially for free (just had to pay tax and tip, check an upcoming post for details on the dinner), it justified heading up to Napa for the day, doing some wine tasting at Sterling Vineyards (really great deal — $20 for self-guided tour, a gondola ride up to the winery, amazing views, five wine tastings plus some extras if you’re lucky…), having dinner and then staying the night. Enjoy some general photos and hold your breath for two posts on my lunch (at Gott’s Roadside in downtown Napa) and dinner at Morimoto.
