Feature: Hayes Street

This week, my internship for the Home and Garden section at the San Francisco Chronicle brought me to Hayes Valley, a neighborhood in San Francisco I had yet to explore. I walked up and down Hayes Street, checking out various home and design stores and getting a general feel for the neighborhood. All of the stores were awesome, eclectic, and suprisingly, don’t overlap at all! It’s a great place to wander and pick up some unique home decor.

I’m in love this couch&pillows, plus a white laquer chair in a scandalous shape from Room Service.

I’m a sucker for chandeliers, but one made out of golden antlers? Amazing.

Plus some great modern SF prints, all from Propeller.

Wait there’s more! Multiple places that are on my SF food/drink to-do list are in the area: Bar Jules, Absinthe, Suppenkuche, and the Hayes Valley Proxy Project, which has rotating food and drinks vendors, plus a cool outdoor biergarten (supplied with food and beer from Suppenkuche). This week, Ritual coffee and Smitten Ice Cream are at the project. I can’t think of two better summer treats than iced coffee and homemade ice cream. Check Proxy’s Twitter for up-to-date, ultra-important info on what food trucks are visiting when. And check out some pics below.
